Today in class we read poems and analyze their deeper meanings. We went over our biggest fear and the fears that connect to that.

Field trip

I had a drill competition at the fair grounds.

Question 1 and sources

Today in class was a deeper review on the Ap writting exam. We went over question one and its sources. We talked about strategies for the structure of the essay then we all read our thesis to the class. Some were bad some for were very good but for the most part most of the class understood the concept of how to do a thesis statement. Mine was wrong though.

Joliffe’s Framework Design

Thursday we went over the Joliffes Framework Design. It consist of the rhetorical situations: exigence, audience and purpose. The second part of the design is the appeals: logos, ethos, pathos and  tone. Then there’s the overall structure and form.

Devices

Friday we went over the I have a dream speech again but we took notes on some more devices on how to analyze passages, speeches and etc. we took notes on tone and mood. Tone is the writers attitude towards a subject and the mood is the atmosphere the text evokes.

Roller coaster

It is a roller coaster that
seems to never stop,
worrying about things that
have not or never will happen.

It breaks me down into
pieces shattering the glass,
seeming so unfixable
leaving me a deer in the
headlights to what
will happen next.

I am losing my mind as
if I live in a crazy home.
Wishing I could ride off

the stress I am going through.

Today’s Presentation

Today in class we presented projects on 3 words. The directions was to bring 3 objects that related to that word. I feel like everyone was very creative with coming up with objects for their words. All of the presentation deliveries were entertaining to me. Some were funny and some were interesting.

I Have A Dream Speech

Today in class we analyzed the speech I Have A Dream using Rhetorical Strategy. We also used the SOAPSTone diagram from yesterday to also analyze before we listened to it. This analyzation deeply explained his meaning and structure of the speech.

Mondays

Today in class I didn’t really get all the information that Ms.Rease taught because unfortunately I was sleep. I was up to the SOAPTone diagram to help analyze small paragraphs. Reflecting off today’s class activities the little information that I did get, I will say that this is making reading and comprehending a passage way easier.

Presentations

The curricular for today was the vocab quiz. For the quiz is you had to pick four words and choose videos that best explained them. Today was the presentation day and those that did present did and very good job of explaining the words and entertaining the class.

Today we went in Ms.Wells class and took a prep test for her class next semester.

Substitute

Today in class we took a “easy” quiz that required the 7 Rhetorical Devices we learned throughout the week. In reality the quiz was hard or that’s probably just an opinion of mine but I thought about what to write until it was almost too late. I did finish the quiz it was short and to the point.

Few minutes before

Today in 4th block we did fun things to pass time for the pep rally. The classroom was full of laughter and joy everyone was hype for the weakest pep rally in the nation.

90s day

90s day was today and everyone dressed well. In class today there wasn’t many people because there was a party during this block. The students who didn’t go stated to do vocabulary.

Work with what you go

Today I presented a project that didn’t contain some requirements to the rubric. My best ideas come from last minute work. I did not want to acknowledge the fact that I came up with my project idea in class but that’s what happened. It was not the best of my abilities but it did give me a wider vocabulary and a better understanding of those words. I presented it to the class as four words on a black poster and delivered it well, but I still do believe it could have been better.

Smoking and Obesity

Today we learned that brainstorming first before reading a passage helps break down ideas on the text. We went through if smoking, and being overweight was far for many careers and/or jobs. Most were said to be fair depending on the situation because both smoking and obesity can cuz health problems which can interfere with that certain career. We also talked about the unfair reason of why people shouldn’t smoke or be obese.

Wild Chpt 3-4

Friday, September 13 we took a test on chapters 3 and 4 and went over the questions on the test.

Grief

In class today we read Chapter 2 of Wild by Cheryl Strayed. It was months after her mom died Cheryl’s husband Paul got accepted into a school that he applied for. Part of her was happy and wanted to support him and part of her was still grieving from her mother’s death. She was torn a piece of her left with her mother’s death. She needed closure and her way of doing it was having multiple affairs and stopped but felt lonely again and started back. She finally told Paul and her whole  life changed and got worse.

America

On September 11,2019, my teacher talked about the meaning of America. The class all came up with some words that gives an idea what America mean. Freedom was one the person explained that America is a free place. Another word was diverse, I would say that this is a big part that plays in America because there’s not just one number of races and cultures here. Then he asked use to define hero and I define it as someone  who is looked up to by others by doing what’s right. For my American hero I chose Michelle Obama. I said that she was a strong black women and she was not only a presidents wife but she was his work partner.

New Beginnings

September 10,2019, I learned more interesting things about hiking. We have started a book called Wild by Cheryl Strayed. A summary of the book will be that Cheryl was going through hard times and depression in her life at the age of 22 and she  wanted a new beginning. She came across a book about the Pacific Crest and it interested her. She began to get an idea that this journey would help her with her depression and help her start her life over. I also learned that you  attract what you fear because of your actions not because you say you fear something.

English Dialogues

      Today I learned that there is not just one type of English. English has many different dialogues. The African Americans has an official English dialogue called Ebonics. There is a standard English which most passages, essays, and exams are written in such as the ACT. Because of this, the ACT would be bias to other race. Asian Americans score highest in America because of their cultural rules in their household. Asian parents are scripted on their children when it comes to academics. I also learned more about claim and evidence.
